Black Ghosts' Requiem
You are members of the proud army of the An-Xiisz Commonwealth, serving under the black and gold banner of the 5th Royal Regiment. With the raids on the Sky Provinces becoming more aggressive, your Regiment is sent to reinforce the Tel-kaasz garrison. The commissioned officers in your regiment see this reassignment as a death sentence for their careers, as nothing noteworthy ever happens up in the Sky Provinces. At least not compared to the ongoing Border Wars, where one can gain fame and quick advancement through the ranks while protecting the country from worthwhile adversaries. All that happens in Sky Provinces is the occasional (and insignificant) orcish or pirate raid, or maybe the odd minor monster eating few mountain villagers.
It is late fall, Post Sundering Year 203. You are loaded up onto the Artemis, a very large cargo ship that routinely travels between Tel-kaasz and Core Provinces. If the weather remains favorable you will reach Tel-kaasz in five or six days, but once you pass Veil’s Cut all bets are off. Beyond Veil’s Cut you will hook up with an escort of two monitors from Falcon’s Rest and a monitor and two corvettes from Griffin’s Roost, an escort that hopefully will not be needed.
